Roland Strasser
1885 – 1974
Born in Vienna in 1895, Roland Strasser was the son of painter and sculptor Arthur Strasser, from whom he inherited his passion for art. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and later at the Academy of Munich, focusing on painting, drawing, and sculpture.
In 1920, Strasser began traveling extensively across Asia and North Africa. He returned to Bali in 1934, where he lived and worked in Kintamani for a decade, creating expressive portraits and landscapes. His works are now held in major public collections worldwide, including in Vienna, Berlin, Batavia (Jakarta), Honolulu, Ubud, Sydney, Los Angeles, and Toronto.
