Mikhael Yesyurun is a contemporary visual artist whose work explores identity and cultural hybridity. Growing up in a family of mixed religious backgrounds, he developed a strong sense of tolerance as a Javanese—an experience reflected in his hybrid figures with striped faces, symbolizing cultural intersections and personal identity struggles. His paintings become stages where characters express resilience and positive reflection.
A Fine Arts graduate of the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, Yesyurun has held solo shows including The Next Episode (Rachel Gallery, Jakarta, 2024), Inner Dragon DNA (Super Duper Gallery, Philippines, 2024), and THANKYOU PEOPLE (Klamp Gallery, Busan Art Fair, 2023). He has also participated in Artjog (2023), Urban Break in Seoul, Singapore Art Week, and the Asana Bina Seni Biennale (2022). Blending traditional techniques with digital elements and personal narratives, Yesyurun creates a distinct visual language addressing identity, diversity, and the human experience in a changing global landscape.
