    Natee Utarit

    B. 1970

Natee Utarit (born 1970, Bangkok) is a Thai artist whose practice critically explores the relationship between Eastern and Western cultures. A graduate of Silpakorn University, Thailand’s oldest art institution, he became fascinated by the Western art curriculum taught there and its influence on local aesthetics. His works merge philosophy, history, and religious thought to create a dialogue that transcends time and geography, often embedding sociopolitical and spiritual messages within figurative and abstract compositions.

Utarit has had numerous solo exhibitions, including "Optimism is Ridiculous: The Altarpieces" at The Private Museum in Singapore (2018) and the National Gallery of Indonesia in Jakarta (2017). His work has been featured in major international group shows, such as the Bangkok Art Biennale (2018) and Thai Eye at the Saatchi Gallery in London (2016). His art is held in prestigious collections, including the Queensland Art Gallery and the Singapore Art Museum.
