S Teddy Darmawan
1970 – 2016
S. Teddy Darmawan (1970-2016), born in Padang, West Sumatra, was an Indonesian artist known for his works infused with humor and subtle sarcasm. An ISI Yogyakarta graduate, Darmawans international career began in 2000 as an artist-in-residence in Germany.
His notable large-scale installation, The Temple (Love Tank), was shown at the Singapore Art Museum (2010), and Beyond the Self at The National Portrait Gallery, Australia (2011). He held several solo exhibitions and participated in group shows across Indonesia, Australia, Japan, the Netherlands, and Germany. His last work, Sudah Lama Aku Berteman dengan Buddha, was exhibited shortly before his passing from cancer in 2016.
