Li Shuji

Li Shuji is a painter known for his refined oil portraits that blend Western techniques with Chinese cultural heritage. A graduate of Shenyang Luxun Academy and the Liaoning Academy of Painting, he is a member of the Chinese Artists Association and Vice-President of the Liaoning Painting Institute. Drawing inspiration from his extensive travels, Li is best known for his depictions of Asian women in varied settings, inviting viewers to interpret their symbolic significance.
Over his career, Li has been commissioned to paint for numerous heads of state, including Indonesian Presidents Suharto, Megawati, and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, as well as Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew and Prime Minister Wu Zuodong. His large-scale work Overseas Chinese – Mother of the Revolution (2000) is the largest painting in Singapore and a treasured centerpiece of the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall. He has exhibited in over 20 national art exhibitions, and his works are held in collections worldwide, including the National Art Museum of China.
