Yogie Achmad Ginanjar
B. 1981
Born in Bandung, Yogie Achmad Ginanjar is an Indonesian painter and curator. He graduated cum laude in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). Since 2004, he has participated in numerous exhibitions and programs worldwide, including I Play Therefore I Am at the National Gallery Jakarta (2005), REFRESH at Valentine Willie Fine Art Singapore (2008), Korea International Art Fair (2010–2011), ArtStage Singapore (2010–2013), and the Sovereign Asia Art Awards exhibitions in Singapore and Hong Kong (2013, 2017).
His solo exhibitions include Neo Chiaroscuro (2009) and Verisimilitude (2013), both at Valentine Willie Fine Arts in Kuala Lumpur. Yogie has received several honors, such as Best Student of the Year in Fine Arts at ITB (2005), The Best Artwork Award in the West Java Painting Competition (2006, 2007), and the Public Vote Winner at the Sovereign Asia Art Prize (2017).
Using binary compositions and popular codes as his visual reference, Yogie’s paintings offer sharp critiques of contemporary global society. Since 2017, he has explored new techniques that blend abstraction, action painting, and hyperrealism.
