Aan Gunawan is an Indonesian artist and graduate of the Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) Yogyakarta. He has received numerous awards, including the Health Caricature Award from the Indonesian Ministry of Health (1994), Best Watercolor, Best Sketch, and Best Acrylic Painting at ISI Yogyakarta (1996–1997), and recognition as a finalist in the Nokia Art Award (1999, 2001) and ASEAN Art Award (2003).
Aan has participated in many exhibitions across Indonesia, with notable solo shows such as Manusia Dalam Imajinasi at ISI Yogyakarta (2003) and Insight at Sri Sasanti Gallery, Yogyakarta (2009). His practice spans painting, caricature, and abstraction, reflecting both technical skill and a wide-ranging exploration of contemporary visual expression.
