Nasjah Djamin
1924 – 1999
Nasjah Djamin was an Indonesian painter, writer, playwright, and illustrator. After winning the “Asia for Asia” poster competition in 1942, he co-founded the Angkatan Seni Rupa Indonesia (ASRI) in Medan in 1945 before moving to Yogyakarta to pursue his artistic ambitions. There, he studied under Affandi and further developed his practice within the Seniman Masyarakat circle. He's best known for his quiet, atmospheric, and monochromatic landscapes. Throughout his career, he remained active in artist associations such as Seniman Indonesia Muda, Pasukan Obor, and Gabungan Pelukis Indonesia.
