Edward Pilliang, also known as Edo Pillu, was born in Bandung, West Java, in 1969. He studied sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, from 1990 to 1997, after earlier attending the Institute of Design and Photography in Bandung in 1989. Throughout his career, he explored various media including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and performance art before ultimately focusing on painting.
Edo held solo exhibitions such as Unification of Self at Art Front Gallery, Singapore (2015) and Romantika at Kiniko Art, Yogyakarta (2018), and participated in numerous group shows in Indonesia, Singapore, Germany, Canada, and the United States, including Dewantara Triennale 2019 in Yogyakarta and Portraiture at OHD Museum, Magelang (2018).
