Daniel Timbul
B. 1981
Daniel Timbul studied printmaking at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, earning his Bachelor of Fine Art degree in 2008. During his studies, he received the Academic Art Award #2 (2008) for Young Artist in the Printmaking category. His works have been exhibited both locally and internationally, including Tabula Rasa: International Printmaking Exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey (2007), Ligeros de Equipaje in Spain (2006), and Message from Indonesia in Kobe, Japan (2005).
Daniel’s first solo exhibition, Timbul’s Deli, was held at Edwin’s Gallery, Jakarta, in 2010. He has also participated in numerous group shows such as Survey II at Edwin’s Gallery (2009), Fresh 4 U at Jogja Gallery (2009), and Jogja Deathmatch at Roommate Gallery (2008). His practice, rooted in printmaking, combines sharp social commentary with humor and visual playfulness, often reflecting on pop culture, urban life, and personal experience. Daniel currently lives and works in Yogyakarta.
