Soedibio
1912 – 1981
Soedibio was born in Madiun, Indonesia, on June 17, 1912. He was a prominent Indonesian painter known for his contributions to the country's modern art movement. In 1940, he joined Persagi (Persatuan Ahli Gambar Indonesia), an influential group advocating for the development of Indonesian modern art. That same year, he co-founded Seniman Muda Indonesia (The Young Indonesia Artists) alongside notable figures such as S. Sudjojono, Trisno Soemardjo, D. Suradji, and Sunindyo.
Throughout his career, Soedibio remained highly productive, actively participating in numerous exhibitions, particularly between the 1950s and 1970s. In 1967, he became a member of Sanggar Puri Surabaya, and in 1970, he joined Himpunan Budaya Surakarta (The Surakarta Culture Association). His works gained significant recognition, and with the support of Dewan Kesenian Jakarta (Jakarta Arts Council), his art was showcased at Taman Ismail Marzuki in Jakarta in 1976.
