    John van der Sterren

    B. 1938

    John van der Sterren was born in Sukabumi, West Java, in 1938. He spent his childhood on a tea plantation and lived in Indonesia for over 26 years. After World War II, he and his family moved to New Zealand. In 1983, he returned to Indonesia and settled in Subang, where he became one of the leading landscape and portrait painters in the country.

    His works are held in museums and private collections across Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, the USA, Mexico, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Britain, Poland, Australia, and New Zealand.
