Theo Meier
1908 – 1982
Swiss artist Theo Meier lived in Bali for over 20 years (1934–1955), immersing himself in Balinese Modernist art as both a friend and patron to local artists. His extensive collection of paintings, spanning pre- and post-World War II, captured the evolution of the movement.
A graduate of the Basel School of Art, Meier led a vibrant, nomadic life, traveling from Switzerland to the South Pacific, Bali, and Thailand. His adventurous spirit and bold artistic style reflected the richness of the cultures he embraced.
