Lee Long Looi

Lee Long Looi was born in Kedah, Malaysia, in 1942. He studied at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, from 1962 to 1964 under Georgette Chan and Lai Foong Mooi, and later continued his education at the Art Students League of New York and the Pratt Institute. He held his first solo exhibition in the United States in 1970 at the Jarvis Art Gallery, New York, and has since received numerous awards, including First Prize in Watercolour at the Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibition.

With a career spanning more than four decades, Lee Long Looi is known for bridging Eastern artistic traditions with Western modern art. His paintings often depict female figures in quiet, introspective poses, symbolizing breath and life force, and reflecting a harmonious relationship between the human form and nature. His works have been widely exhibited in the United States, Canada, and Asia, and are held in major corporate and private collections internationally.
