Chu Teh-Chun is widely regarded as one of the most significant Chinese artists of the 20th century. He began his artistic training in Hangzhou in the 1930s before moving to Paris in 1955, where his work developed at the intersection of Eastern and Western traditions. Throughout his career, Chu exhibited internationally and became known for his ability to merge Chinese calligraphic discipline with the expressive freedom of European abstraction, while maintaining rigorous technical control rooted in his early academic training.
