Dedy Suardi was an Indonesian painter, writer, educator, and Islamic preacher. A graduate of ASRI Yogyakarta (1961), he later taught at Universitas Gadjah Mada and STSI Bandung, while also serving as editor for magazines such as Aktuil and Gondewa. As a painter, he held solo and group exhibitions in Jakarta, Bandung, and abroad, including the New York World’s Fair (1963–1964). His works often combined artistic expression with reflections on faith and astronomy, a passion that also shaped his many writings. He published dozens of books ranging from children’s stories to religious and philosophical works.
