JB Iwan Sulistyo
B. 1954
JB Iwan Sulistyo (born 1954, Kudus, Central Java) was a highly prolific Indonesian painter, despite being known as a "Sunday painter" or "part-time painter." For decades, he balanced his art with a professional career as a Marketing Communication Manager at the Noroyono cigarette factory.
His artistic achievements far exceeded those of many full-time artists. He held 31 solo exhibitions—18 of which were in Jakarta, Singapore, and New Zealand—and participated in over 80 group exhibitions both in Indonesia and abroad. He was a master of using diverse colors in his oil paintings but also created black-and-white works. His talent was recognized early, winning first place in a painting competition in 1970.
Beyond his impressive art career, Sulistyo held an MBA and a master's degree in management, and he published four art books.
