Jeihan Sukmantoro was born in Solo in 1938. He studied at Himpunan Budaya Surakarta (HBS – Surakarta Cultural Society) from 1953 to 1955 and at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) from 1960 to 1966. In 1978, he co-founded Studio Seni Rupa Bandung (Bandung Fine Arts Studio) with Dr. Sudjoko.
Throughout his career, he participated in numerous exhibitions and held solo exhibitions in various locations, including Bandung (1998), Galerie Darga & Lansberg in Paris, France (1999), Darga Gallery in Bali (2000), as well as the Jakarta Hilton International Hotel and Nadi Gallery in Jakarta (2002). His distinctive portrait paintings are widely recognized, blending Eastern mysticism with a Western analytical approach.
