Pang Maokun studied at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, completing his master’s degree in oil painting in 1988. He currently serves as President of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and holds leading positions within the China Artists Association. His works have been exhibited at major institutions in China and internationally, including in Paris, Kassel, St. Petersburg, and Florence, and are held in prominent museum and private collections.
For over four decades, Pang has explored the relevance of classical oil painting within a contemporary context. Rooted in academic realism, his work emphasizes refined technique, controlled composition, and psychological depth. While grounded in classical language, he integrates modern visual experience and social awareness, allowing traditional methods to engage meaningfully with contemporary life.
