I Gusti Agung Dewi Monalisa
I Gusti Agung Dewi Monalisa is an artist from Ubud who grew up in a family of artists. Her uncle and aunt, I Gusti Agung Wiranata, Ni Gusti Agung Galuh, and I Gusti Agung Kepakisan, were all proponents of the Walter Spies painting style, which has had a strong influence on her artistic development. Monalisa draws inspiration from Walter Spies’s methods and reinterprets them within her own visual language.
Her paintings often feature distinctive foregrounds, depicting newly planted rice fields or laborers at work, reflecting everyday rural life in Bali through a calm and carefully structured composition.
