Sutan Chaidir
Sutan Chaidir was an Indonesian painter who later became closely associated with the art scene in Bali. In 1941 he moved with his family to Medan, where he studied painting under Rusli after completing high school in 1956. His early exhibitions included a group show with ASRI Medan artists at the Grand Hotel in 1957. After exhibiting with Rusli Hakim in 1961, heChaidir traveled to Bali and eventually settled in Ubud in 1967.
Sutan Chaidir participated in numerous exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad, including a major Indonesian painting exhibition at the Dewan Kesenian Jakarta in 1976 and a show at the Museum Sztuka Archipelago Nusantara in 1972.
