Roby Dwi Antono
Roby Dwi Antono is a contemporary painter based in Yogyakarta. Formerly trained as a graphic designer, he developed a distinctive visual language that blends classical Renaissance sensibilities with contemporary pop and surrealist aesthetics. His works are often compared to those of Mark Ryden and Yoshitomo Nara, while maintaining a personal style marked by smooth, richly colored brushwork.
Antono’s paintings frequently feature starry-eyed children, mythological creatures, and symbolic imagery drawn from both personal memories and popular culture. Figures such as Tyler, the Creator, Jerry Lorenzo, and Takashi Murakami occasionally appear within his visual universe. Through these dreamlike compositions, Antono constructs a world of layered symbols and personal idioms, where innocence, fantasy, and contemporary culture intersect.
