Cucu Ruchyat studied painting with senior artists in Bandung and Bali. Since 1999, he has actively exhibited in group shows, including Syair Pengantin in Jakarta (2005), and was a recipient of the Philip Morris Art Award. In 2013, he won the UOB Painting of the Year (bronze award). His works are known for featuring plump, expressive figures rendered in a distinctive style.
