I Made Supena
1970 – 2019
Born in Singapadu, Gianyar on 12 January 1970, I Made Supena studied fine arts at Udayana University and was the son of legendary Balinese sculptor I Ketut Mudja. His work spanned painting, sculpture, installation, and performance art, with abstraction as his defining language. He was an active member of the visual arts groups Galang Kangin and MilitanArts, and exhibited widely both in Indonesia and abroad, including in Germany and China, with solo exhibitions at notable venues across Bali, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya.
Over his career, Supena received numerous recognitions including the Award of the Governor of Bali, the Philip Morris Arts Foundation Award, and a Certificate of Ownership from the Wellculturen Frankfurt Museum in Germany. He passed away on 16 April 2019 at Sanglah Hospital, Bali, following a severe brain hemorrhage.
