Huang Fong
1936 – 2004
Huang Fong is a professional Indonesian artist known for his unique blend of Eastern and Western painting techniques. A graduate of IKIP Seni Rupa, Surabaya, he began his artistic journey with watercolor under the guidance of Tan Kiaw Tek.
Huang Fong deepened his craft by befriending and learning from many senior painters, most notably the acclaimed Indonesian artist Affandi, whom he met in Bali in 1968. He moved to Bali in 1967, living first in Ubud and then Denpasar. While initially working in oil on canvas, he continuously evolved his style. Since 1961, Huang Fong has held numerous solo exhibitions, and his works have been showcased internationally in Indonesia, Taiwan, South Korea, and Australia.
