Itji Tarmizi was a notable Indonesian visual artist, widely regarded as a master of the social realism movement. His works often carried powerful critiques of social injustice, reflecting the struggles and inequalities faced by everyday people. During the New Order era, Tarmizi distanced himself from public exposure due to the politically critical nature of his paintings.
