Duong Ngoc Son
B. 1973
Duong Ngoc Son is a Vietnamese painter born in Ha Tay who graduated from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts in 1997. Drawing inspiration from Impressionism, he has developed a distinctive visual language that celebrates the landscapes, people, and everyday rhythms of Vietnam. His paintings frequently feature women in áo dài or áo bà ba, rice fields, flowers, and village life.
Rich, luminous colours and expressive brushstrokes define Duong's artistic practice. Rather than pursuing strict realism, he uses colour and light to convey atmosphere and emotion, transforming ordinary scenes into poetic reflections of Vietnamese life. His works have been exhibited in Singapore, France, Malaysia, and Switzerland, and are held in the collection of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts as well as numerous private collections across Asia, Europe, North America, and Australia.
