Budi Kustarto began his artistic journey studying Communication Design Visual at a senior high school in Yogyakarta (1988–1992) before pursuing a Fine Arts degree at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta (1993–2003). Budi has held several solo exhibitions, including Budi at Nadi Gallery (2005) and Hetero Green at Galeri Semarang (2006). In addition to his solo showcases, he has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Jakarta and internationally. He was also recognized with an award from Philip Morris Indonesian Art at Galeri Nasional Indonesia, Jakarta.
As a contemporary artist, Budi Kustarto’s works have been exhibited in major art events across Indonesia, China, and Italy. His first verified exhibition was Meta Etalase at Galeri Semarang (2005), and his most recent participation was at Art Jakarta 2024. Over the past 19 years, he has held at least two solo exhibitions and participated in 17 group exhibitions, along with appearances at art fairs and biennales.
