Pande Ketut Taman was born in Ubud, Bali, into an artistic and religious family. Pande studied at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta before settling in Muntilan, Central Java, near Borobudur Temple and Mount Merapi/
Pande’s art reflects a strong connection to nature and the cosmos. His carved wood sculptures, often monumental and shaped from tree trunks or roots, depict expressive human figures emerging organically from the material. For him, art is a daily practice akin to meditation, a way to explore the relationship between the body, nature, and the wider universe.
