Didik Nurhadi
B. 1972
Didik Nurhadi was born in Ngawi, East Java, in 1972 and graduated from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta. Since 1992, he has actively participated in numerous group exhibitions and has held solo exhibitions at Kedai Kebun and Bentara Budaya in Yogyakarta. Didik Nurhadi is recognized as a prominent figure in Indonesian figurative painting, known for his distinctive depiction of figures with chubby cheeks, hands, and feet rendered in rounded, voluminous forms. Infused with humor and irony, his works portray scenes of everyday life that appear ordinary at first glance, yet subtly reflect social behavior and the broader socio-political realities of their time.
