Haris Purnomo
B. 1956
Haris Purnomo was born in Klaten, Central Java, in 1956. He graduated from the Indonesian Fine Art Academy (ASRI) in 1975 and has been actively participating in group exhibitions in Jakarta and Yogyakarta since 1978. As a member of the Kepribadian Apa (Pipa) Group, he played a significant role in the Indonesian contemporary art scene. He held solo exhibitions at Nadi Gallery, Jakarta (2006), and the National Gallery, Jakarta (2007). Haris has also received several awards, including the Schoeni Prize from the Hong Kong-based Sovereign Art Foundation.
