Lim Wasim
1929 – 2004
Lim Wasim was born in Bandung, West Java, in 1929. He began studying painting under Kok Tekkang at Tiong Hoa Hwee Koan, later continuing with Sudjana Kerton and Mochtar Apin. After graduating from the China Institute of Fine Art in 1956, he taught at the Xian An Institute until 1959.
Throughout his career, Lim exhibited widely, starting with a joint exhibition in Bandung, and in 1961 was appointed Presidential Palace painter. He was awarded the Golden Centaur gold medal by the International Parliament, USA. His solo exhibition was held in 2003, a year before his passing in 2004.
