Le Quy Tong
B. 1977
Le Quy Tong graduated from the Vietnam University of Fine Arts in 2000. His early oil paintings captured the shifting urban landscapes and industrial landmarks of Hanoi, while his recent practice spans sculpture, installation, and moving image. Drawing from mass media, he recontextualizes and abstracts images to explore collective memory, trauma, and themes of protest, struggle, and liberation, reflecting on cycles of conflict and revolution in world history.
He has exhibited widely in Vietnam and internationally, with solo shows in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Europe. Notable exhibitions include Illuminated Curiosities, Nguyen Art Foundation, HCMC (2022); The Picture Will Still Exist, Dia Projects, HCMC (2017); True Gold, Dia Projects, HCMC (2016); True Blue, Manzi Art Space, Hanoi (2015); and New Days, Apricot Gallery, London (2011).
