Hasan
B. 1986
Hasan was born in Sumenep, Madura, and currently resides in Klaten, Central Java. He is an artist who earned both his undergraduate and masters degrees from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts in Surakarta. With over two decades of experience in the art world, he has established himself as a prominent figure in contemporary Indonesian art.
Throughout his career, Hasan has participated in numerous prestigious exhibitions, including the KONTRAKSI Nusantara Fine Arts Exhibition at the National Gallery of Indonesia and Sepayung Indonesia at Keraton Mangkunegaran Surakarta. His achievements include being selected for the Grand Art Exhibition organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture and receiving a nomination for the BAZAAR Art Award in 2010.
For Hasan, painting is not only a form of artistic expression but also a medium to convey his feelings about various issues affecting the world, both directly and through different media. He addresses profound and personal issues, translating them into imaginative and symbolic visual forms such as symbols of monsters, fire, tree trunks, stones, heads, eyes, mountains, and human figures. Collectively, his artworks create a contemporary surrealistic atmosphere.
