Zaf Chevallier is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans graphic design, fashion, interior design, and fine art. Deeply influenced by cross-cultural experiences, Zef moved to the Netherlands in 1977, where he spent 26 years living, studying, and working. After over a decade in the creative industry, he pursued formal studies in Interior Art Design and Architecture at the Leiden Educational Institution (LOI). While studying, he developed his own artistic voice through design and oil painting, with his works exhibited in Roosendaal, Rotterdam, and Amsterdam between 1991 and 1995.
Zaf’s art reflects his unique cultural background—rooted in Indonesia’s rich history and shaped by colonial legacies from the Portuguese, Japanese, and Dutch. His paintings express a vision of unity and hope, drawing on diverse influences to explore themes of peace and humanity. As Zaf describes it, his work is a meditation on a shared future: “The new world that is our destination, no matter if we are still alive or dead. The message for our future lies in peace.”
