Raden Ogeng Heru Supono
1937 – 1991
O.H. Supono studied at the Surakarta Arts Academy (1957–1959), where he embraced figurative expressionism, seeing art as an expression of the soul. In 1959 he moved to Bali, joining Sanggar Janur Kuning and later Sanggar Kedaton Ubud, where exchanges with artists such as Fajar Sidik and Affandi enriched his vision.
Returning to Java in the early 1960s, Supono became part of a generation shaped by the Manifesto Kebudayaan (1963), which rejected political dogma in art. His expressionist works reflect this spirit of freedom, focusing on personal and emotional truth rather than propaganda.
