Ni Gusti Agung Galuh
B. 1968
Ni Agung Gusti Galuh first learned painting from her father, a traditional Balinese painter, before developing her own distinctive style. She later developed her own style, influenced by German painter Walter Spies who lived in Ubud before World War II. In 1995 she was invited to Cologne, where she studied Western painting techniques. Her works often depict serene landscapes of forests and terraced rice fields in the morning light.
Working primarily with acrylic on paper, her paintings are marked by a soft character and a sense of harmonious symmetry, expressed through the vertical forms of tall coconut trees, the flowing contours of terraces, and the untamed beauty of Bali’s nature. Her works have been collected by the Puri Lukisan Museum in Ubud, and she has exhibited in Bali, Jakarta, and Germany.
