Indonesia
Julnaidi M.S. studied painting at SMSR Padang and the Faculty of Fine Arts, ISI Yogyakarta. He has been active in group exhibitions since the late 1990s, including with Kelompok Sakato at Purna Budaya Yogyakarta (1997) and in Jakarta (2000).
His works move between figurative and abstract tendencies, a style that gained wider recognition when his painting Ideologi yang Terkotak-kotak (Fragmented Ideology) was selected as a finalist in the Philip Morris Indonesia Art Award (2001). He was also a finalist in the Indonesian Art Awards VI (1999) and VIII (2001), affirming his place among contemporary Indonesian painters of his generation.
