Dede Eri Supria
B. 1956
Dede Eri Supria studied at the Indonesian Fine Art Academy (ASRI) in Yogyakarta in 1974 and rose to prominence with his participation in the first Seni Rupa Baru Indonesia exhibition at Balai Budaya, Jakarta (1976). Since then, he has been a regular figure in the Biennale of Young Indonesian Artists at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta. He has also exhibited internationally in ASEAN, Europe, Japan, the United States, and Australia, including The Third Asian Art Show in Fukuoka and the Asia Pacific Triennale in Brisbane.
Over the course of his career, he has received numerous honors, among them the Affandi Award (1993), the Philip Morris Indonesian Art Award (1997), and the Adam Malik Award (1986). Widely recognized as a leading proponent of super-realist painting in Indonesia, Dede’s works often explore the complexities of modern urban life with striking clarity and critical depth.
