    Syahrizal Zain Koto (b. 1960, Pariaman, West Sumatra) studied sculpture at the Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) Yogyakarta after training under Wisman Hadi during his time at SMSR Padang and INS Kayutanam. He held his first solo exhibitions at Taman Budaya West Sumatra in 1981 and 1983, followed by shows at Bentara Budaya Yogyakarta (1993), Galeri Cipta II TIM Jakarta, SIKA Art Studio Bali (1997), Gallery Ardyanto Yogyakarta (1998), and Galeri Millenium Jakarta (2001).

    Syahrizal has participated in numerous group exhibitions across Indonesia, including the Biennale Yogyakarta (2005), Jogja Gallery’s Post-Kaligrafi (2007), and shows at Museum Affandi, Gallery Hadiprana, and Langgeng Gallery. His awards include the Three Works Award Nomination at the Ancol Landmarks Contest (2001) and the Best Sculpture Design Award, Citra Raya City (1996), as well as several honors from ISI and provincial art competitions in West Sumatra.
