Feng Dazhong, born in Liaoning Province, is well-known as one of China’s foremost painters of tigers and a national first-class artist. He is a self-taught master of gongbi painting, a meticulous technique characterized by fine, detailed brushstrokes and carefully layered color.
Feng has spent over six decades refining his depictions of the tiger as a symbol of strength, protection, and majesty in Chinese culture. His lifelong fascination began under the mentorship of Li Xiaoru during his youth and evolved into a career that redefined the tradition of animal painting in modern Chinese art.
