                                    Men Sagan
B. 1948
Men Sagan began painting as a self-taught artist in 1960. In 1967 he founded the Grup Seni Rupa & Tari (Visual Arts & Dance Group), and by the 1970s he was widely recognized for his mastery of the Affandi style, participating in many group exhibitions with leading painters. His affandisme works captivated audiences with their expressive force and authenticity.
As a direct pupil who lived closely with Affandi, Men Sagan inherited not only the dynamism of his strokes but also the humanistic spirit underlying them. Although he once attempted to step outside this influence, including in a 1979 exhibition that presented three creative phases, he ultimately reaffirmed his path. With confidence, he continued to refine Affandisme as his true artistic language.
