Dandung B. Kahono was born in Magelang on July 29, 1949. He graduated in 1971 from STSRI–ASRI Yogyakarta with a major in painting, then continued his studies at the Technology Institute of Bandung in the Graphic Design Faculty from 1972 to 1978. His works are collected by both local and international collectors.
Kahono held his first major exhibition at Balai Budaya, Jakarta in 1994. He has since participated in numerous group exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad, including “20 Pelukis” at BPPT, Jakarta (1994); “Untukmu Ibu Pertiwi” at Pekan Raya Jakarta (1995); group shows at Hilton Executive Club, Jakarta (1996 & 1997); exhibitions in Kochi, Hiroshima and Kobe, Japan (2001); a joint Indonesia–Japan association show at Agung Rai Gallery, Bali (2002); and a collaboration with the Korean Painters Association at Dharmawangsa Hotel (2004).
