Entang Wiharso
B. 1967
Entang Wiharso is an Indonesian artist known for his multidisciplinary work—including painting, sculpture, and performance—that is infused with humor and subtle sarcasm. He studied at the Indonesian Institute of Arts, Yogyakarta.
Wiharso's work uniquely fuses ancient animist mythologies with the interconnected speed of the 21st century. As a 2019 Guggenheim Fellow, his recent art explores the complexities of his bicultural life in Indonesia and the United States. He has held over 45 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous international biennials, including the Venice Biennale (2005, 2013) and the Kunming Biennale (2018-2019).
