Alexander Ming was born in Magelang in 1955 and is widely known as a self-taught artist. Since 1975, he has actively participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Pameran 100 Tahun Seni Rupa Indonesia at One Gallery in Jakarta (2000) and shows at Langgeng Gallery (2003). He has also held notable solo exhibitions, such as Metafora Kursi at Galeri Kita in Bandung (2004) and Bincang-Bincang Seni Rupa Visual Art at the Nikko Hotel in Jakarta.
A dedicated figure in the Magelang art community, Alexander Ming has transformed his old family home into the Golden Pillar Museum and Art Space. He opens this space for artists, the public, and anyone who wishes to create or appreciate art.
Suitbertus Sarwoko

Suitbertus Sarwoko is an artist who was as born near the Borobudur Temple—one of the world’s great wonders—in Magelang, Central Java. He studied in the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta from 1989 to 1995.
As a child, Bertus once dreamed of becoming a pilot, but his aspirations shifted when he discovered the highly detailed illustrations of Don Lawrence’s Trigan and Storm characters. Captivated by their precision and storytelling, he began copying and sketching them, marking the start of his lifelong commitment to art.
Growing up beside the world’s largest 9th-century Buddhist temple also deeply influenced his imagination. Bertus visited Borobudur often, studying its reliefs and connecting with his heritage. This personal bond with Borobudur continues to shape the sensibility and depth of his artistic vision.
