S. Toyo was born in 1935 and is well known as a self-taught painter. From an early age, he developed a strong interest in drawing, beginning with shadow-play figures inspired by leather puppets. As he grew older, he started sketching portraits of national heroes such as Prince Diponegoro, Raden Sentot, Kyai Modjo, President Soekarno, Vice President Hatta, and General Sudirman. Over the course of his career, he created works on a wide range of themes, reflecting his curiosity, dedication, and lifelong passion for art.
