Agus Katro Suyamto

Agus Suyamto (Katro) was born in Boyolali, Central Java, in 1968. His passion for painting emerged at an early age and began to gain recognition during his high school years, when he won several painting awards that led to his participation in an exhibition in India. He later pursued formal art education at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (STSI) in Surakarta (Solo).

Throughout his early career, Agus lived and worked in several cities including Yogyakarta, Solo, and Jakarta, before eventually settling in Bali, where he chose to focus fully on his path as a professional painter. Since 1989, he has actively participated in numerous group exhibitions across Indonesia, including Bali, Malang, Yogyakarta, and Solo, as well as internationally in Singapore and the Netherlands.

Working primarily in a naïve decorative style, Agus Katro’s paintings are characterized by their simplicity, vibrant colours, and expressive visual language.
