Irina & Andrea

Irina & Andrea are a mother-and-daughter duo whose collaborative practice blends sculpture and painting into imaginative, surreal forms. Self-taught yet rooted in a family tradition of creativity, Irina inherited her artistic spirit from her father, Paulus Suharto (Sie Hoat Ho), a multitalented artist and nephew of the pioneering designer Peter Sie.

Their unique sculptures—crafted from cloth, tarpaulin, wood, or plastic—often take over a month to complete before Andrea expands them into vibrant canvases. Filled with doll-like surreal figures and bold colors, their works capture everyday experiences and emotions through a meticulous process fueled by creativity, imagination, and music. Inspired by masters such as Picasso, Van Gogh, and Basquiat, Irina and Andrea continue to shape a body of work that is playful, personal, and full of spirit.
