B. 1968
Yayat Surya is an Indonesian artist known for his abstract works. He received his artistic training from Sarjana Wiyata University, Yogyakarta, and the Indonesia Institute of Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, also studying under Master Glass Painter Mr. Rastika. He has a strong solo exhibition record, including shows at Duta Fine Art Foundation (1999), Jezz Gallery Bali (2000 and 2001 for "I Ching Change Iching"), Cosmos Chaos JAPAN FOUNDATION (2002), Canna Gallery Jakarta (2005), and "My Love Supreme" at Bikka Building Jakarta (2007). Yayat Surya has also participated in numerous group exhibitions both in Indonesia and internationally. His accolades include The Best Abstract of Indofood ART Award (2003), being a Top 10 Finalist for the Indonesian Art Awards, Philip Morris Jakarta (1999), and recognition from the China International Exhibition Agency (CIEA) in Beijing, China (2003).
