This November, the art world once again turns its attention to Jakarta and Singapore as Global Auction unveils its much-anticipated Southeast Asian, Chinese, Modern & Contemporary Art Auction. Running from 25 October to 22 November 2025, the season showcases 192 outstanding lots encompassing paintings, sculptures, and ceramics.
Among the highlights are remarkable works by Indonesian masters Hendra Gunawan, Widayat, S. Sudjojono, Adrien Jean Le Mayeur de Merprès, Ahmad Sadali, and other acclaimed artists across the region. The season will culminate in a live online auction on Saturday, 8 November 2025, at 3 PM (UTC+7).
Auction Highlights
Flora Fauna, 1978 by Widayat
Oil on canvas: 140 x 210 cm
Widayat was one of Indonesia’s most distinctive modern painters who developed a decorative and symbolic style inspired by batik patterns and natural life. In Flora Fauna, he portrays animals and plants such as elephants, deer, and trees arranged in a harmonious rhythm over a warm brown background. The composition reflects his technical mastery and sensitivity to the beauty of nature.
Banana Seller by Hendra Gunawan
Oil on canvas: 198 x 90 cm
Hendra Gunawan was a pioneering figure of Indonesian modern art known for his expressive use of color and his empathy for everyday life. Banana Seller depicts a lively market scene centered on a woman offering bananas, surrounded by villagers in warm conversation. The earthy palette and bold brushstrokes convey movement, vitality, and a deep sense of humanity.
Landscape by Srihadi Soedarsono
Oil on canvas laid on board: 61.5 x 80.5 cm
Srihadi Soedarsono was celebrated for his lyrical abstraction and refined sense of color. In Landscape, layers of gold, green, violet, and blue merge in a balanced and contemplative harmony. The painting reveals Srihadi’s poetic approach to color and his pursuit of emotional depth within simplicity.
Deteriorated Plane with Golden Remnants by Ahmad Sadali
Mixed media on canvas: 80 x 80 cm
Ahmad Sadali was a key figure of the Bandung School who combined spiritual reflection with modern abstraction. In Deteriorated Plane with Golden Remnants, textured layers of gold rise from a dark green surface, suggesting both decay and endurance. Ni Bawang II by Antonio Blanco

Spanish-born Antonio Blanco was known for his romantic depictions of Balinese women and his dramatic use of color. Ni Bawang II presents a serene female figure framed by rich drapery and golden accents. The fluid brushwork and vivid tones express grace, sensuality, and the allure of Balinese beauty.
Tiger by Feng Dazhong
Ink, colour on paper: 85 x 58 cm
Feng Dazhong is a leading Chinese painter renowned for his mastery of the gongbi technique and lifelong devotion to the tiger as his subject. In Tiger, the animal stands alert beneath a full moon, rendered with fine precision and tonal layering. The work captures both the strength and calm spirit that define Feng’s vision of nature.
Contemporary Works

The auction also features contemporary highlights including Darra, Skull and Bones (2023) by Arkiv Vilmansa, One Way Dialogue (2012) by Heri Dono, Clearance Sale (1980) by Agus Suwage, and Bonsai No. 5 (2008) by Ugo Untoro.
Sculptures and Ceramics

Outstanding sculptures include Asturo Boy by Arkiv Vilmansa, Green Dog, Ed. 3/8 (2005) by Zhou Chunya, Kang Ji (2000) by Yi Hwan Kwon, and Transfigured Horse, Artist Proof (1987) by Gregorius Sidharta Soegijo.
The sale also presents a fine selection of rare and ancient Chinese ceramics.
